Last updated:
These Terms & Conditions apply to services provided by Black Mountain Moving & Home Services, including residential moving, commercial moving, packing, unpacking, loading, unloading, furniture assembly and disassembly, junk removal, cleaning and related home services.
By booking or using our services, the customer agrees to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Booking
A booking is considered confirmed when Black Mountain Moving & Home Services has accepted the booking and, where applicable, the required deposit has been received.
We reserve the right to decline or reschedule a booking when circumstances make it unsafe or impractical to provide the requested service.
2. Minimum Service
Our standard moving service has a three-hour minimum. Current rates and any applicable minimums are stated in the written quote prepared for your job and are confirmed with you before your booking is accepted.
Applicable taxes and additional agreed services may apply.
3. Deposit
A deposit may be required to reserve a moving date. Where a deposit applies, the amount is confirmed in your written quote and is applied toward the final balance according to the booking agreement.
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Customers should provide as much notice as reasonably possible when cancelling or rescheduling a booking.
Cancellation or rescheduling terms may depend on the timing of the request, the services booked, and whether the company has already incurred costs or committed resources to the booking.
Any applicable deposit or cancellation charges will be communicated to the customer at the time of booking.
5. Customer Responsibilities
The customer is responsible for:
- Providing accurate information about the move
- Informing us about stairs, elevators, parking restrictions, long carries and difficult access
- Identifying fragile, oversized, unusually heavy or valuable items
- Ensuring that the property is reasonably accessible and safe
- Obtaining any building or condominium elevator reservations or required permissions
- Removing personal items from furniture where appropriate before moving
6. Special and Heavy Items
Customers must inform us in advance about unusually heavy, oversized, fragile or difficult-to-handle items.
Certain items may require additional labour, equipment, time or special arrangements.
We reserve the right to refuse an item if we reasonably believe moving it would create an unsafe condition or risk of damage.
7. Packing
When packing services are requested, the customer is responsible for identifying items that require special handling.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Black Mountain Moving & Home Services is not responsible for damage to items that were improperly packed by the customer.
8. Damage and Existing Conditions
Customers should identify existing damage to furniture, walls, floors, doors, appliances or other property before work begins.
We will take reasonable care while performing our services, but moving and related services involve inherent risks.
9. Junk Removal
For junk removal services, customers must accurately describe the items to be removed.
We may refuse materials that are hazardous, illegal, unsafe, contaminated or otherwise unsuitable for transportation or disposal.
10. Cleaning and Home Services
Cleaning and other home services are performed according to the scope agreed upon with the customer.
Additional work requested after the original agreement may result in additional charges.
11. Payment
The customer agrees to pay the amount due for the services provided, including applicable taxes and approved additional charges.
Payment must be made according to the payment method and terms agreed upon at booking or before completion of the service.
12. Estimates
Unless expressly stated as a fixed-price quote, estimates are estimates only and are based on information provided by the customer.
The final charge may change if the actual work, time, conditions or services differ from the original information.
13. Unsafe Conditions
Black Mountain Moving & Home Services may stop or refuse work if employees, customers, property or equipment are exposed to an unsafe condition.
This may include dangerous weather, unsafe access, hazardous materials, structural concerns or other circumstances that create an unreasonable risk.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Black Mountain Moving & Home Services will not be responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
